As part of the 40th anniversary of the popular tactical turn-based strategy series Nobunaga’s Ambition, Koei Tecmo America has announced that we’re finally getting a new console game in the west.
Nobunaga’s Ambition: Awakening launches on the Switch eShop on 20th July. Previously referred to as Nobunaga’s Ambition: Rebirth, the game launched in Japan on the Switch in July 2022, and we weren’t sure we’d ever see this entry — which is the 16th title in the series — hit our shores. But we were wrong, and we’re ready to gather up our armies and celebrate.

You might recall how the Sonic Mania developer Headcannon had some involvement in Sonic Origins. Now, following the announcement of Sonic Origins Plus, the “indie game and utilities” developer has confirmed it’s “once again” cooperated with Sega to this time update the project.
In a lengthy series of tweets, it explained how it helped put Amy in the spotlight, helped out with Knuckles in Sonic CD and was able to supply “a few additional updates and enhancements” to help make this collection the “best it can be”. Here’s this announcement in full:

Producer Ryo Ishida reveals.
Last year’s Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series — a remastered compilation of two classic PlayStation and PS2 platformers — was actually developed for Switch first, producer Ryo Ishida has revealed.
In an interview in the newest issue of Lost In Cult (via Nintendo Everything), Ishida shares some brief insight into the development of the game, and that they were actually finished with the Switch version of it before it was even announced at the February 2022 Nintendo Direct.

Nintendo has rolled out its second firmware update of 2023, bumping the hybrid system up to Version 16.0.1.

The collectathon is far from over.
Publisher Top Hat Studios has announced that last year’s throwback platformer Frogun will be landing itself a sequel, as Frogun Encore is set to bring even more low-poly vibes our way this summer.
The last retro-inspired puzzle platformer was an all-around good time when it leapt onto the Switch in 2022 and the sequel looks as if it is doing much more of the same.
