Tributes flood the socials.

Unless you’ve been living off the gaming grid for the past few days/weeks /months, you’ll no doubt already know that the 3DS and Wii U eShops are now closed for new business. You can still currently redownload any previous purchases from the online stores, but the window has closed on your last legal opportunity to get hold of many eShop exclusives on those consoles, and fans have been taking to social media to pay tribute to the shuttered stores.

Much of the colourful artwork features the little orange eShop bag from the 3DS eShop who would peep around the back of the game icon before those little coloured data cubes dropping and filling the icon with delicious orange… er, game data juice? Nothing so drab as a progress bar for Nintendo!

The 3DS and Wii U eShop services are closing down at the end of this month on 27th March, and while all sorts of games and applications will no longer be available for purchase, one series in particular that’s taking quite a hit is Pokémon.

Serebii.net has put together a short social media reel to highlight what exactly will no longer be available for digital purchase in the Pokémon line. This includes games like Pokémon X & Y and Pokémon Sun & Moon, and even the retro Virtual Console Game Boy games. After the service ends, you’ll still be able to download purchased games and applications.

We’re getting closer each day to the shutdown of the 3DS and Wii U eShop services. Many companies have been issuing reminders to grab their games on these platforms before its closed, and now Capcom has joined in with a PSA regarding the Monster Hunter games.

On the company’s official Monster Hunter social media accounts – it issued an important reminder that the eShop services will end later this month on 27th March. It means the Monster Hunter titles for this platform will no longer be available for new digital purchases. Fortunately, if you have purchased them beforehand, they can still be redownloaded in the future.
