Minecraft Update:
Patch notes from recent patches
Are you eager to get involved and try out all the new features in Minecraft 1.17? You are not the only one. In 2020, the Caves & Cliffs update was announced. It promised to overhaul caves and cliffs with new biomes and blocks, as well as animals. Mojang decided to separate the update into two parts. The Caves & Cliffs 1.17 update is now live and introduces new creatures and blocks. The 2.1.18 (part 2) will be available later in 2021. It will provide new biomes for us to explore. It seems so simple, right? It would, except that certain animals and blocks that can only spawn in the new biomes added in 1.18 are already available to the game. It has been difficult to keep up with all the updates in Caves & Cliffs Part 1 and figure out what the next steps are.

Minecraft 1.17 features: What’s in Caves & Cliffs Part 1?
Part 1 of Caves & Cliffs’ update was launched on June 8. Although it is technically the smaller update, it contains loads of new blocks and animals, plants, and craftable objects. Some of these items are supposed to only spawn in new biomes so you might be a little confused as to what you will see when you open Minecraft. There are still other ways to get them though, like Creative mode, lucky finds in chests, or from Wandering traders.

What’s new in Minecraft 1.18?
Part 2 of Minecraft 1.18: What to Expect in Caves & Cliffs
Part 2 of Caves and Cliffs’ update has not been set, but it is expected to arrive in 2021. We don’t know much about the details of the update. However, we do know that new biomes will be implemented once it arrives. Here are the details we have so far.
Biomes:
- Lush caves: These biomes add lots of colour underground and are full green-covered blocks, glow berries and other materials. The Azalea trees that grow over the Lush Caves in the Overworld will help you locate them.
- Dripstone Cave This second biome is more colorful than Lush Caves, and has stalagmites or stalactites in addition to Minecraft’s regular blocks. Be careful not to slip into a pit full of stalagmites.
- Deep Dark This biome is not for the faint-hearted. You might consider retreating quickly if the lights in the cave begin to dimming. This is a sign that the new Warden mob may be nearby. Skulk Sensors can also generate here.
Creatures:
- Warden These new, terrifying mobs live underground and respond to vibrations and movement. They are dangerous and can cause a lot of damage.
Blocks:
- Skulk Block/Sensor These can be found deep underground in Warden’s territory. When activated, they emit a Redstone signal and are set off with sounds and vibrations.
